Remove or deactivate smart household devices such as alarm systems, robot vacuum cleaners, smart light bulbs, smart sockets or cameras from your household if you are exposed to digital violence after a break-up.

More information

Ex-partners who control technical devices in the home can often continue to terrorize their victims with smart everyday devices. These threats can drive their victims insane. Lights, music and robot vacuum cleaners that are suddenly switched on at night are probably still rather harmless. However, perpetrators can use the linked accounts to obtain information about when their victims are at home, eavesdrop on them or spy on them with cameras.

You can simply switch off or unplug affected devices. If you are familiar with them, you can also connect them to new accounts that you control exclusively.

Particularly important for the following target groups:

  • Stalking and women's shelters

Other categories

  • Location monitoring
  • Dangers on the Internet
